USB Outlet Review

My husband and I are converting a space into a home office. We have carefully gone over the electric necessities, and after seeing USB outlets premiere at CES, I just knew I had to have one! This one is the Power2U AC/USB wall outlet made by NewerTech.

The cool thing about this is you can charge and/or power up to four devices at once, eliminating unsightly clutter created by multiple cables and bulky power adapters.

Don’t be intimitated by the outlet’s big backside. It fits snuggly into a standard electric box, and it’s super easy to install. NewerTech even has a handy installation video on their website here.

My favorite things about the USB outlet is the spring-loaded Safety Shutter doors. The USB ports remained closed unless beings used. This helps eliminate “vampire” energy draw when a connecting cable is removed, and keeps little ones from sticking objects inside.

The Newer Technology Power2U AC/USB Wall Outlet retails for $29.95, and is compatible with the following devices:

Apple iPad (all models)
Apple iPhone (all models)
Apple iPod (all USB chargeable models)
Android™ tablets and phones, tablet computers, cellphones, gaming systems (Nintendo, Sony PSP, etc.), Bluetooth headsets, digital cameras, or GPS devices which charge via standard USB plug

You can also purchase in larger 10, 20, and 100 packs online.

I have to say, I love having the capability of charging both my phone and iPod while plugging in other devices as well. This is an awesome power solution in a home office, and would be fabulous near a kitchen countertop as well!
